Report from Forest City Comicon!

I had a great time at Forest City Comicon yesterday.

I was really happy with how my booth came together visually, and it was great seeing the results of all my hard work coming together.

I loved seeing the reaction on people’s faces as they came around the corner and saw my booth for the first time. I also got lots of interesting data on what was popular — I sold out of my large Sylvanas prints mid-day, but didn’t sell a single Tyrande! For next time, I want to diversify my offerings a little more and have a few more prints from popular titles besides Warcraft, Diablo, and Sailor Moon. I would like to do an Overwatch piece for sure, and maybe some Disney Princess stuff.

I think I can iterate on my display as well. The buttons did well in part because I had them sitting out, and people could pick them up and hold them before deciding to buy them.  I want to take the stickers out of the display stand and lay them right on the table, and encourage people to touch them.

I’m then going to use the big display stand for the colouring books instead. Even though I had a little sign explaining what the books were, most people were so surprised by the idea of them that it didn’t click what they were until I explained further. Having a larger sign allows me to put some quick facts about the books on there too, like “20 pages of artwork to colour!” and “featuring art from Warcraft, Overwatch, and more!”

People really seemed to love my style, whether they were fans of my subject matter or not, which is really encouraging!  I’m looking forward to creating more pieces and doing more shows in the future. I’m going to do a review of all the local events going on next year and see which ones I want to do. Now that I have my display and merch, it’s much easier for me to do multiple shows!

I also want to thank everyone who came out to support me or just to cheer me on at my booth <3
